Babies, children and adolescents are continually growing, developing and adapting. Their needs change along the way, and the care and support they need can change too.

At Holistic OM, we recognise that every child is different. Care is shaped around their age, stage of development, individual needs and what is happening for them at the time, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

We also recognise that children are part of a family. Parents and caregivers bring an important understanding of their child, and we take time to listen to your concerns, understand the bigger picture and work with you to find the most appropriate way forward.

As children grow, we include them in conversations about their own care in ways that are appropriate for their age, understanding and preferences.

What to expect

Every child is different, so care begins with getting to know your child and understanding what has brought you to Holistic OM. We’ll take time to hear about their health and developmental history, your concerns, and anything else that may be important.

Appointments are adapted to your child’s age, stage of development, comfort and individual needs. Babies and younger children are free to feed, move, play, settle or stay close to their parent or caregiver as needed.

As children grow, we encourage them to be involved in their own care. We explain what is happening in ways they can understand and give them opportunities to ask questions, express their preferences and feel comfortable with the process.

Parents and caregivers are kept involved, with time to discuss what we have observed, answer questions and talk through any recommendations or next steps.

Families come to Holistic OM for support at different stages of infancy, childhood and adolescence. The reasons for seeking care vary depending on the child, their age and the type of support they need.
